Martin Tardy

Martin Tardy, born in 1992, is an Austrian-French artist whose distinctive artistic style is characterized by figurative works, mostly drawn with continuous lines.

His training in fashion and art provided the artist with a solid foundation for working with diverse materials such as metal, wood, and ceramics, as well as various types of fabrics, which he continues to explore in his artistic practice. His distinctive style originated in a rapid sketching technique that has since become his artistic expression, transcending the traditional surface. His works are displayed on materials such as glass, stone, bronze, aluminum, clay, PVC, mirrors, and virtual/digital media.

In his works, Tardy explores the possibilities of a single line in a continuous movement until a piece is complete. One of his techniques, in which he relinquishes control to his hands and more or less switches off his mind, involves drawing asynchronously with both hands to create a single work composed of two lines that frequently intersect and together form a unity, a finished piece.

These lines, according to the artist, represent the continuous development and journey of human life itself, with all its possible twists, turns, reactions, and outcomes. Human anatomy has always been a source of fascination for the artist, as he strives to merge the physical body with its environment, playing with the viewer's perception of depth and space.

Between 2018 and 2020 there was an intensive collaboration with the Hilger Gallery.
Since then, there has been a mix of gallery projects and self-organized projects.
