Pietro Marcozzi Rozzi

Pietro Marcozzi Rozzi is a contemporary Italian artist, born in central Italy in 1983 and raised in Rome. From childhood, he immersed himself in art and history through visits to museums, archaeological sites, and the city's ornate churches and monuments. This environment profoundly shaped his visual sensibility.While growing up in Rome, alongside the city's classical heritage, Pietro Marcozzi Rozzi also witnessed the emergence of graffiti culture in the late 1990s. Influenced by street art movements from the United States and France, he began spray-painting with friends in 1998, an experience that continues to shape his artistic language today. His early works were created on walls, but over time, particularly since his move to Vienna, his practice has evolved into a studio-based approach, working predominantly on canvas.His academic path first led him to study political science and international relations, both through an American university program and at the University of Roma Tre. In 2008, he shifted his focus entirely to art, enrolling at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. There, he completed a three-year painting degree, followed by a two-year degree in communication and art education with a curatorial focus. Under the guidance of professors like Gianfranco Notargiacomo, he refined his visual language, translating his graffiti background into a more structured painterly practice.

In his work, Pietro Marcozzi Rozzi is characterized by a strong emphasis on gesture, dynamic compositions, and bold color contrasts. Combining spray paint and acrylics, he draws inspiration from Abstract Expressionism, Action Painting, and Pop Art, positioning himself as a contemporary post-graffiti artist. His background in political science also influences aspects of his work, enabling him to engage with socio-political themes.

Since 2019, he has lived and worked in Vienna. His works have been presented in solo and group exhibitions throughout Italy and Austria, including exhibitions in Rome, Vienna, Linz, and Marchtrenk.
